Over the weekend…the Hybrid Racing crew took one of the new additions, a Red 1985 4Runner out to Little Moab to get some sunshine…

We left the top behind at the shop, with the day predicted to be 91 degrees…we needed the extra ventilation.With a  Quick detour at “Adventure’s First Stop” to fill up the ice chest, we were on our way south.

Little Moab is just south of the heart of Salt Lake, near Utah Lake. We love Little Moab, because its a great day trip, and has just enough challenges to make it a killer spot to try out new toys. Precisely what we were up to.

Little did we know, we were in for a surprise. We were cruising around, and looked back, and saw a plume of smoke coming up from the middle of the desert…

Lucky for us, it was right between where we were standing and where our truck and trailer were parked. Obviously, we hauled ass to check out the scene.

Major relief to see that the fire was a good distance from the truck, but we were not impressed with the reality of the fire and how quickly it seemed to be spreading…

 The fire continued to spread and it wasn’t long before the Utah County Fire Department came to save the day.

Of course, the sheriffs arrived and let us know that we needed to leave. The fire was spreading quickly and the wind was changing quickly. We looked back, sad that our day was cut short, curious of how the fire even got started, and of course, disappointed that one of our favorite places caught fire. I’m sure our friend “frank” escaped and we’ll see him next time.
